Based in London and reporting to the Legal Director (Lisbon), you will be involved in the acquisitions, development, financings, construction and operations of renewable energy projects in the UK. As the first UK based legal counsel, you’ll have considerable autonomy and coverage across the entire UK business and there is scope to grow the position.
Key responsibilities will include:
- take ownership of all UK legal matters with the support of the Legal Director and external counsel;
- transactional work and management of external counsel on major renewable energy projects, including assisting on tenders, due diligence, M&A opportunities and financing processes;
- supporting the UK development team with property, planning, permitting and connection processes (including applications to National Grid or other equivalent NETSO);
- supporting the negotiation and review of various key commercial contracts across the full cycle of a renewable energy project, including land documents, development services agreements, EPC and O&M agreements, revenue agreements, share sale agreements and finance documents;
- ensuring continual compliance with applicable legislative and internal compliance requirements;
- supporting the global legal strategy for corporate related matters and commercial contracts with contractors, consultants, suppliers and customers; and
- supporting the legal team in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives, including the implementation of legal tools (including legal AI) and standardisation of documentation and working practices across the UK.
Key skills and experience (preferred):
- the ideal candidate will have at least 8 years legal experience within the energy or renewables industry in the UK, comprising high-quality private practice experience and recent in-house experience – current in-house renewables experience will be advantageous;
- experience drafting, negotiating and reviewing key energy project documents (including land, EPC, O&M, PPAs, optimization agreements, finance documents);
- entrepreneurial spirit, confident conducting business development and a driver of continuous improvement;
- a commercial, pragmatic, responsive and flexible attitude to work and a commitment to deliver excellent outcomes; and
- qualified to practice in the UK.
Within the Development team, you will manage the development of identified projects towards final investment decision and construction. This covers a wide range of workstreams including ecological evaluation, community engagement, permitting, energy yield and grid connection assessments, and budget & programme management. You will also coordinate the procurement process with the support of the procurement team. The successful candidate will enjoy managing multiple workstreams and creatively solving challenges to minimize the cost and time of the developments, while maximizing the value to TagEnergy.
TagEnergy is looking for a Head of Construction to join its Operations Team in Lisbon, reporting to our COO and who will manage and build our project construction capabilities across EU/UK.
After entering the UK market in 2021 through a first acquisition of a 20MW battery project which commenced operations in September 2022, TagEnergy has delivered 170MW, is currently building 120MW and will start the construction of an additional 240MW by the end of 2024. In parallel, TagEnergy is developing BESS, Solar and Wind projects in Iberia and France with the aim to start construction of different projects in 2025.
The role will include, but not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of renewable energy projects (BESS, wind and Solar), from financial close to commissioning.
- Establish key project deliverables, reporting mechanisms and timelines. Manage progress in accordance with specific project deliverables.
- Manage the different contracts and projects obligations during the construction phase (EPC contract; grid connection agreement, planning consent, environmental permits…).
- Conduct technical Due diligence pre/post-acquisition, including site visits, estimation of cost, constructability.
- Alongside the Technology and Procurement team, contribute or lead procurement activities for each project.
Within the Energy Management team, you will contribute to enhancing our power market data capabilities by taking ownership of visualizations (dashboards and weekly reports), retrieving and organizing market data to support more in-depth analysis by senior team members, and developing and maintaining summaries of relevant market regulations. The candidate will have strong skills and interest in data analysis and visualization, proficiency in Python, and effective communication abilities, with attention to detail and a proactive approach. Fluency in English is essential, with additional languages (Italian, French, Portuguese) being a plus.
Within the Technology team and reporting to the Procurement Director, you will contribute to the procurement strategy for renewable energy projects (wind, solar PV and battery storage). For each project, the Procurement team is in charge of the supplier and contractor selection, from issuing tenders to technical and commercial contract negotiations. You will also be responsible for reviewing the equipment evolution and assessing new technologies, and for supporting TagEnergy’s project development in Europe. The candidate will have a solid technical background with good commercial skills and a strong appetite for negotiation dynamics.
TagEnergy is looking for a Finance Transformation Director, responsible for the contractual oversight and operational management of TagEnergy group accounting platform and other business system interfaces. This role involves ensuring the seamless integration and performance of our outsourced accounting services, as well as the deployment and management of accounting-related software as purchase to pay, treasury, closing workflows.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience, hands on experience in accounting with at least 3 years in a leadership role, proven experience in managing outsourced accounting services, strong knowledge of accounting principles and processes, experience with deployment and management of accounting software systems, a strong background in accounting and system and process implementation, and experience in managing third-party service providers.
The role will be based in Lisbon and will report to the CFO of the group.
Within the Operations team, you will contribute to the development and implementation of the company’s sustainability strategy, and to structure the Environmental Social and Governance framework of the company. You will guarantee compliance with ESG reporting requirements and support the different teams in setting up ESG reporting and monitoring tools along the life cycle of our projects. You will work with our projects’ local communities to deploy sustainability actions in the project’s local areas. The candidate will have strong project management and analytical skills, communication skills, and be detail oriented.
